SPAEL Training Focus
The overarching goal of this training course is
to disseminate basic concepts, essential knowledge
and application skills of RS/GIS technologies that
are increasingly used in business, research and
government at all levels
The training course is aimed at providing participants with application skills on the collection techniques and use of spatial data: satellite imagery, aerial photographs and maps. As the training progresses, the participants will also gain practical knowledge on how to develop, retrieve and manage spatial information that they collect in the field.

The basic certificate course is an intensive two-week course which introduces the principal
concepts and techniques of geographical information systems
(GIS) and Geographic Positioning System (GPS). The course
consists of three interrelated parts: a theoretical part which
focuses on the concepts, a practical part which aims at developing
hands-on skills in using software tools, and an application oriented
part in which participants learn how to design and carry out sequential
data processing steps for solving typical application problems in their
areas of interest.
These are designed for professionals who already have basic knowledge
of GIS but wish to acquire advanced skills for specialized applications in thematic areas.
